The horse thing at midlife

Article Abstract:

Steve and Pam Horvath have used their horses to provide mock horse shows and riding opportunities for the residents of the home and for the elderly they operate at their Christian Fellowship Ranch in Syosset, in New York. In 1998 they began hosting the Long Island Riding for the handicapped association's therapeutic riding program at the ranch, Pam is certified as an instructor by the North American riding for the handicapped association.

Jennifer Forsberg Meyer describes friendly relationship between Laurie Cooper and her 24-year-old daughter Melissa while observing their first trial on a horse ride. Laurie is the instigator of the family's horse involvement and her first taste of Western riding came in 1970, when she worked as a camp counselor in Colorado.
