Five budget mountain bike racers built by the Santa Rosa Cyclery are evaluated by professional mountain bikers. The performance specifications of the Cannondale F900, GT Avalanche, Iron Horse ARS 700, Schwinn MOAB Aluminum 1 and a Voodoo Hoodoo are presented.

Girvin Inc. has assembled a dual-suspension mountain bike from Shimano Acera, Ritchey and Vetta parts that costs only $700. The Pro-Flex Arcadia's rear suspension component absorbs most shocks and has a low rate of compression during performance.
