Article Abstract:

A rivalry is both a sublime and riveting thing, a state attained, when the talents and determination of two contestants are in such perfect equipoise that the outcome of their competitions would be unpredictable and unbearably fraught with tension. A renewal of the classic Agassi-Sampras rivalry, along with many other cases are discussed.

Paul Annacone: the accidental coach

Article Abstract:

Paul Annacone, tennis star Pete Sampras' coach, had no inkling he would be a tennis coach. Annacone, who was a professional tennis player himself, substituted for his friend Tim Gullikson in coaching Sampras. Gullikson died of brain cancer in 1995.

Article Abstract:

Tennis is one of the sports that have been misjudged and misled by the media. Despite the talents displayed by professional players and the thrill the game brings to spectators, reporters have cited tennis as a boring and worthless game.
