Recreational boaters have shocked Congress into appropriating some funds to maintain the deteriorating Atlantic Intercostals Waterway, which is used by commercial and recreational traffic to transit the eastern seaboard. In this plan, Virginia gets a total of $2,335,000 and $435,000 are earmarked for work in the Dismal Swamp, which is used almost entirely by recreational boaters.
