Factors associated with adolescents' physical inactivity in Xi'an City, China

Article Abstract:

The socio demographic and environmental factors at community, school and household levels associated with physical inactivity in Xi'an City, China are explored. Results suggest that strategies to promote physical activity in Chinese adolescents should integrate associated factors at household, school, and community levels and address the important gender differences in factors associated with physical inactivity in youth.

Estradiol and tamoxifen reverse ovariectomy-induced physical inactivity in mice

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to determine the effects of estrogen or the estrogen analog, tamoxifen on estrogen deficient mice associated with decreased physical activity and increased body mass. The results indicate that the lack of estrogen causes mice to rapidly become sedentary but that estrogen replacement could stimulate ovariectomized mice to resume voluntary wheel running within a few days.

Physical activity and body mass index in grade 3, 7, and 11 Nova Scotia students

Article Abstract:

The average time spent in moderate or more intense physical activities based on weight status in randomly selected Nova Scotia students is discussed. There are no significant differences in the average time spent in moderate or more intense physical activities in the body mass index groups even though there are age and sex differences.
