Article Abstract:

Asthma can be induced by exercise, in either elite or recreational athletes. Symptoms include chest tightness, coughing and wheezing during exercise. This condition can also be detected with pulmonary function measurements before or after exercise. The most common treatment is an inhaled beta agonist, but some patients may also need inhaled steroids or cromolyn.
