Article Abstract:
A study of 16 male volleyball players from Division I schools of the National Collegiate Athletic Association indicates that ballistic training can significantly improve athletic jumping ability. Jumping ability increased at 5.9% and 6.3% for standing and approach jumps, respectively. The strength at slow velocities of the athletes did not increase over the test period, and results may have been determined because fast velocity strength and explosive strength were enhanced.

Article Abstract:
Adaptation of arm and thigh muscle hypertrophy to different long-term periodized resistance training programs and the influence of upper body resistance training are examined. It is concluded that training specificity was supported by the inclusion of heavier loading ranges in a periodized resistance-training program and that it can be advantageous in a total conditioning program directed at development of muscle tissue mass in young women.

Article Abstract:
An investigation was conducted to compare metabolic and perceptual responses between exercise performed at constant intensity (CON) and with a Spinning protocol of variable intensity (VAR). The result showed that an exercise regimen in which intensity varies exerts no added effect on metabolic and perceptual responses during exercise as long as the average intensity is kept the same.
