The advanced features of tennis shoes introduced in 1995 are described. Tennis players are advised to know what their foot types are to determine the shoes which will provide support and cushioning. The correct characteristics of shoe parts such heel collar, heel counter, stabilizing strap and cupsole are discussed.

Tennis equipment has undergone major improvements in recent years. Manufacturers have not only made racquets stiffer and more flexible but also decreased their weight in order to provide maximum performance, better control and optimal power.

Several lines of tennis shoes are evaluated based on comfort, durability, stability, game day, design and value. Women's tennis shoes from K-Swiss (Styrka), Nike (Air Haze) and Adidas (Equipment Precision W) are also evaluated.
