Big rigs: four road rockets that push the frontiers of fat-tube aluminum

Article Abstract:

Four bicycles which feature fat-tube aluminum frames are presented. The bikes are the Cannondale R2000 CAAD4, LeMond Maillot Jaune, Specialized S-Works M4 and Trek 2500. While the bicycles had varying stiffness or comfort characteristics, it was suggested that they were suited for performance riding.

Only a few cyclists appreciate the importance of lugs despite their numerous structural advantages. These devices, usually mounted on bike frames, offer an efficient means of adjusting and cutting down edges, particularly in the points of curves and windows.
