A sailor describes sailing through Belle Isle Strait along the coast of Labrador and Newfoundland. He had previously sailed the area quickly because of its repute for roughness. But on this journey, he discovers the area's marvels, including humpback whales, icebergs, and ancient ruins at the ports.

The wreck of the Braer

Article Abstract:

The oil tanker Braer went aground on Jan 6, 1993, off the Shetland Islands northeast of Scotland. Possible causes of the accident and the environmental damage caused by the oil spill are discussed.
