Article Abstract:
This article compares the knee joint loading caused by performing unanticipated and planned running and cutting tasks. Findings indicate that unplanned tasks result in significantly increased knee rotation moments and pose a greater risk of knee ligament injuries due to a lack of time to make necessary postural adjustments.

The uses of EMG-driven neuromuscular biomechanical models to study the way muscles stabilize the knee are described. It is found that there are specific activation patterns used to stabilize the knee by using the EMG-driven neuromuscular biomechanical model.
