Excerpts of five adventure stories are presented. The stories have been selected from those that have appeared in Field and Stream magazine during its 100 years of publication. The stories deal with hazards in the wilderness, including the dangers of wild pigs, bears, and lions.

Fish tales

Field and Stream magazine, in its 100 years of publication, has covered many memorable fishing achievements, including the catching of a 216-pound tuna in 1901, the catching of a 2,200-pound horned ray in 1908, and the discovery of a 30,000-pound 'sea monster' in 1914.
