A survey of seagoing women

Article Abstract:

A survey that interviewed 24 women at the end of their first year of cruising found fewer adjustment problems in couples that had been together longest and had the most boating experience. Nearly all couples divided responsibilities along gender lines.

A woman is more likely to enjoy cruising if she is involved in selecting the vessel and planning the trips. Being prepared for problems helps to control fear. Taking sailing lessons from a woman can help to build self confidence.
