This article examines the impact of globalization and political violence on the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). The authors argue that ASEAN was incorrectly viewed by the international community as a securities operation, and maintain the current political violence demonstrates ASEAN's inability to react to globalization and its own internal problems.
