Issues are discussed regarding the ways beliefs about cervical cancer became contested within New Zealand's medical profession from the late 1960s to the late 1980s. An inquiry into medical practice presided over by the laity and an appeal to moral factors as well as the scientific-technical closed disputes over knowledge claim about this cancer.

Apostasy to orthodoxy: debates before a Commission of Inquiry into chiropractic

Article Abstract:

The Royal Commission of Inquiry assessment of chiropractic in New Zealand in 1978 is discussed, and revealed a tension between the medical debate and the chiropractic one. A compromise gave chiropractic a place in the public health service in New Zealand and 'de-radicalized' its claims.
