The new NAHRO building: a dream fulfilled

Article Abstract:

The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials' (NAHRO) dream of a new headquarters has finally become a reality after 17 years. The three-story building has a total floor area of 18,341 sq. ft. It is located in 630 Eye Street, N.W., in Washington, DC's Chinatown Historic District. This site was selected because it has the characteristics desired by the NAHRO leadership: proximity to a Metro Station and to the Central Business District, Capital Hill or the East End of the capital. NAHRO also wanted to build its headquarters where it can contribute to urban community renewal. The building's steel frame and red brick facade are architecturally impressive and blend very well with the historic neighborhood.
