Meeting the health care needs of the new woman inmate: a national survey of prison practices
Article Abstract:
This article evaluates health care personnel and services in state and federal prisons for women. The authors, maintaining women inmates are older, tend to be minorities, and most likely to be substance abusers than in the past, argues prison health care personnel and services are not adequately prepared to meet the health demands of the new demographic of women prisoners.

Age, gender, and treatment attendance among forensic psychiatric outpatients
Article Abstract:
This study uses medical records of forensic psychiatric outpatients to investigate the relationship between age, gender, and commitment to treatment participation. Results indicate that female patients had higher rates of absenteeism than men regardless of age, but the frequency of missed appointments declined with age in both groups.
