Definitions are presented on clinical sociology and ethnomethodology, using the diagnosis of delusion as an example. Topics include the determination of pathology, social constructivist perspectives and objective and subjective interpretations of reality.

Case studies of lesbians who have become mothers using donated semen are discussed. Lesbian donor insemination has gained acceptance only within a medicalized framework, and self-insemination still seen as a threat to medicine.
