Gerontological nursing: professional priority or eternal Cinderella?
Article Abstract:
Rehabilitation nursing moves towards a more holistic approach which stresses health and wellness rather than disability and illness. The UK has experienced the gradual emergence of gerontological nursing in its society. It was argued however, that the rehabilitation as a whole and the nursing role in particular, is limited by the functional model of health prevalent within the field of medicine. The tenets of gerontological nursing should be applied in order that a more sensitive, appropriate and comprehensive approach to rehabilitation can be achieved.

Ageing and the family in Australia
Article Abstract:
The Australian Journal on Ageing's special issue on the International Year of the Family discusses ageing within the context of family life. The issue contained articles on four issues, namely, geriatrics, marriage and family support, women's issues in Asia, and the characteristics of caregiving. All in all, it was a 'timely contribution' to the debate on gerontology in the country.
