Research is presented concerning the concurrent use of cigarettes and alcohol among 3 large samples of 7-12th-grade students in New York state in 1983, 1990 and 1994. Logistic regression analysis techniques are used.

Potential risk factors like gambling behaviors, substance abuse and other problem behaviors and sociodemographic factors are assessed to understand pathological gambling. Accordingly, the results indicated that minority and low socioeconomic status group members have higher levels of gambling pathology than other groups.

Article Abstract:
A survey was conducted in the United States with the aide of Chi-square Automatic Detector (CHAID) to determine gambling and gambling pathology from a sociodemographic perspective with certain classifications. It was observed that divorcees, widowed and cohabiting men gambled more often than married or widowed white Americans.
