Hunting has attributed social problems, such as moral decadence, to the absence of ordering vision and has suggested the replacement of the term 'the Free World' with 'the West.' He argues that the term incorporates people coming from different cultures and united by their favorable place in the world order.

Globalization and its discontents

Article Abstract:

Globalization has become a buzzword in the 1990s and has generated much discussion. In the current debate over this issue, enthusiasts have argued that globalization has led to the integration of national economies, thus rendering nation-states obsolete. Globalization has also been seen as nothing but mere hype or ideology. The challenge for social scientists is to develop an appropriate analytical framework that will facilitate an objective study of this issue.

Fighting marginalization with transnational networks: Counter-hegemonic globalization

Article Abstract:

It is questioned why improved communications and cross boundary movements have not stimulated transnational economy and trade, which continue to grow disproportionately amid contemporary globalisation. It is argued that 'globalisation from below' is enabling citizens from less affluent countries to build trading relationships through cheap transport and communications.
