Article Abstract:

A study examined the ethnic variations in how mentally ill jail detainees are referred, diagnosed and treated. Results indicate that white patients are more likely to be diagnosed with affective disorders and less likely with psychotic disorders compared to black patients.

Legal pressure, treatment readiness, and engagement in long-term residential programs

Article Abstract:

A study of clients in long-term residential drug treatment facilities examined the combined impact of internal and external factors on engagement and retention. Results indicate little significant interaction effect between treatment readiness and legal pressure.

A study examined legal and psychosocial issues in elderly male prisoners in a psychiatric forensic facility. Results concerned likelihood to experience delusions, relationships to victims, ethnic background and severity of legal charge.
