Cognitive coping skills and depression vulnerability among cigarette smokers

Article Abstract:

The possibility that depression-vulnerable cigarette smokers may not be deficient in the skills taught in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) is examined. Results showed that depression proneness and cognitive coping skills were less strongly associated with African-Americans than the Caucasians.

Nicotine dependence, PTSD symptoms, and depression proneness among male and female smokers

Article Abstract:

Studies have linked nicotine dependence severity to post-traumatic stress disorder, and this link was not mitigated when vulnerability to depression was controlled statistically. Findings were weaker among women than among men.

Usage of mediating mechanisms for empirical modeling of compensatory coping skills of smokers, during cognitive behavior therapy as part of smoking cessation programmes, is presented.
