Building a clinically relevant picture of attachment from case study observations in a parent-infant play group

Article Abstract:

Researchers studied the interactions of four parent-child pairs in a play group setting. They aimed to demonstrate that the setting and method provides an appropriate vehicle for the clinical assessment of carer-child relationships, for use by practitioners involved in early intervention work. The case studies clearly demonstrate the patterns of interaction between the parents and children during play, and conform to earlier findings on the importance of the the attachment relationship. Observation in the play group setting could have an important role in multi-disciplinary intervention.

How runaway and homeless youth navigate troubled waters: personal strengths and resources

Article Abstract:

While much data exists on why youth becaome runaways, little has been done on how runaways cope with transitioning to adulthood. Structured interviews with 12 formerly homeless/runaway youth reveals coping startegies such as new attitude development and spirituality. Implications for social services providers are also analyzed.
