Agrarian transformations and public opinion

Article Abstract:

A sociological survey is carried out in June 2001 in Gomel Oblast in order to study the opinions of rural inhabitants and workers in the sector of agriculture and the results were considered as important not only on the regional scale but also on the scale of the whole republic. Considering all the findings, an essential condition is to be worked out for carrying out reforms in the region.

Comparative experience of societal transformations in the postsocialist countries

Article Abstract:

The end of the first decade of postsocialist development is marked as a milestone in the 'new history' of the region of Central and Eastern Europe. The evolutionary type of societal dynamics in the countries of the region, a type that changes, in particular, conceptions about the meaning and significance of the 'velvet revolutions' are shown.

Marriage and family relations in the Republic of Belarus

Article Abstract:

Most families in Belarus are nuclear families living in cities and the twentieth century were a time of major demographic changes. Almost all the fundamental functions of the family have changed and the marriage rate has declined by one third owing to the unstable social and economic situation.
