Article Abstract:
The relationship between adverse childhood events on adulthood substance use and the measures of affiliation among the homeless adults was determined using a longitudinal countrywide data of 397 homeless adults. Path analysis showed that adulthood substance abuse mediated the inverse relationship between adverse childhood events and two measures of adulthood affiliation.

Article Abstract:
An existing longitudinal data consisting of a sample of 104 homeless women with children under 18 years old is used by a 15 month study to examine whether homeless mothers with substance use problems were more likely to experience separations from their children. It also studied the impact the substance had on their family ability.

Article Abstract:
The characteristics associated with wanting to permanently quit their alcohol, cocaine or heroin use were examined in a study of 748 homeless women. Recognition that their substance use was an extremely serious problem was a consistent predictor of wanting to quit substance use.
