Inracially adopted White young adults are compred with transracially adopted minorities, showing that discrimination against the transracial adoptee and discomfort about their appearance are significantly correlated with adjustment difficulties. Residence in racially heterogeneous settings mean less discomfort of adoptees about their appearances.

Research reveals that the value of the college experience for adopted students is influenced by the adoption process. Results are based on a study of 16 students at four colleges; topics include choice of major, identification with family, desire to search for biological parents, and communication with other adopted college students.
