Article Abstract:
Sexuality is a basic human need and an important concern of AIDS/HIV positive individuals which has been overlooked by health care professionals. The sexual problems they encounter interfere with normal life functioning and contribute to their suffering. Sexual apathy is one such difficulty that can be traced to depression, anxiety and altered self-concept generated by the knowledge of the disease and the changes it could impose. Prompt identification and proper intervention of these problems will greatly improve the chances of these individuals to enjoy a quality life despite the illness.

Article Abstract:
The effects of chronic illnesses on sexuality are not well documented, but it is reported by the National Center for Health Statistics that almost 40 million people have illnesses limiting physical activity. Obstacles to maintaining a sexual relationship may be too great for some couples, and many end their sex life without any discussion. Others find alternative ways to communicate their love, and as a consequence, find their relationship deepens and grows richer.
