Article Abstract:
The study uses economic and sociological theories to explore the effects of religion on the labor supply behavior of married women. To evaluate the labor supply of women in various types of intra- and inter-faith marriages at diverse periods of the life-cycle, the records from the 1987-1988 National Survey of Families and Households are used. The results indicate that the life-cycle periods affect the strength of the religion-female labor supply linkage and that the choice of religion has a vital role in female labor supply decisions.
