Self-appraisal and perceptions of the appraisal discussion: a field experiment

Article Abstract:

A field experiment on self appraisal was conducted on 187 managers in a large corporation. Subjects were located in the US and Puerto Rico. Self appraisal is said to have beneficial effects on performance appraisal discussion. However, the results indicate that self appraisal exhibited none of the predicted beneficial effects thus indicating formal and informal self appraisal involve different processes. Correlational results, however, replicate previous studies.

Research into the connection between self-monitoring and performance appraisal of team members is presented, with focus on the degree of monitoring and the amount of matching between different appraisal sources.

Perception of executive pay: does pay enhance a leader's aura?

Article Abstract:

A study found that an executive's promotion history, university and degree earned were more important to employees than an executive's compensation level when determining the executive's leadership ability.
