Exploring cross-cultural differences in self-concept: a meta-analysis of the self-description questionnaire-1

Article Abstract:

This article explores the self-concept of children from three different cultural groups in relation to academics and non-academic subareas. The authors, investigating children from Asia, Africa, and Australia/United States, found that African children has the most positive self-concept, Asian children had the lowest self-concept in non-academic subareas, and children from Australia/United States had the lowest positive self-concept regarding academics.

Child care in India: an examination of the 'household size/infant indulgence' hypothesis

Article Abstract:

This article examines the relationship between the number of adult caretakers in a household and the quality of infant care in a small community in Orissa, India. Results indicate that household size was not related to infant demand compliance or the amount of time spent nurturing babies.
