The potential of design science and design science research are explored for renewing the field of organization development (OD). The design science perspectives have provided a powerful combination of the original strengths of OD in human behavior and planned change based on humanistic values and design competences involving both humanistic and business values.

A rapid prototyping is regularly used in the design and development of products and services and it can also be used in order to facilitate organizational development and change. The different objectives related to prototype that facilitate behavioral change within organizations are discussed.

A comprehensive design-based research (DBR) is developed and used as a tool to test the reporting of intellectual capital in firms. This DBR is used as an organization development (OD) intervention that is aimed at improving the individual and collective sensemaking of managers.
