Agricultural science and technology policy in Africa

Article Abstract:

The central problem facing agricultural policy makers in Africa to promote self-sustaining processes of growth fueled by technological advances, concentrating on small-scale agricultural production and trade is discussed. The dominant theoretical perspective on technical change and innovation in small-scale agriculture is highly effective in identifying problems with small-scale agriculture.

Indicators of the relative importance of IPRs in developing countries

Article Abstract:

The economic case for uniform and strong intellectual property rights (IPRs) in developing countries is reviewed. Countries at different levels of industrial and technological development face very different economic costs and benefits from stronger IPRs.
