Vaginal estrogen creams: use patterns among a cohort of women
Article Abstract:
The use of vaginal estrogen creams by postmenopausal women may increase with age. Vaginal estrogen relieves the adverse urogenital changes in middle age, such as incontinence, burning, and irritation. Researchers looked at the prescription patterns of estrogen cream in 33,822 women aged at least 45 years old. Many women filed at least one or two prescriptions of vaginal estrogen cream. Of 733 women with intact uteri who were long-term users, 60% had no prescriptions for progestin yet used an annual average of 22 tubes of cream.

Serum estrogen levels, cognitive performance, and risk of cognitive decline in older community women
Article Abstract:
A study of 532 women aged 65 years and older was conducted to determine the association between serum estrogen levels, cognitive performance and the risk of cognitive decline as they age. Endogenous estrogens were not consistently associated with cognitive performance or decline. Women with higher estrone levels performed surprisingly worse on cognitive tests.

Cognitive impairment in chronic kidney disease
Article Abstract:
The prevalence of cognitive impairment in persons with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and its relation to the severity of CKD is assessed. It is found that cognitive impairment is associated with the severity of kidney disease.
