Outcome predictors of pneumonia in elderly patients: importance of functional assessment
Article Abstract:
The outcome of elderly patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) observed at an acute-care hospital, are evaluated by analyzing the importance of CAP severity, functional status, comorbidity, and frailty. The conclusion states that the functional status is an independent predictor for short- and long-term mortality in hospitalized patients.
