Age-related differences in the processing of redundant visual dimensions

Article Abstract:

Age differences in the redundant-signals effect and co activation of visual dimensions are investigated in two experiments namely the conjoining of dimensions and manipulating the spatial separation of dimensions. The findings indicate that the coactive processing of redundant visual dimension is spared in healthy older adults and that for both groups, attention must be focused on both dimensions for co-activation to occur.

Differential age effects on attention-based inhibition: Inhibitory tagging and inhibition of return

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to determine whether the aging process differentially affect two forms of attentional inhibition, inhibition of return (IOR) and inhibitory tagging. Although older adults demonstrated intact IOR, there was no evidence of inhibited tagging, thus suggesting that age deficits in inhibition are selective.

Age-Related changes in selective attention and perceptual load during visual search

Article Abstract:

The hypothesis that age differences in selective attention vary as a function of perceptual load is essayed using three visual search experiments. The perceptual load effect was found similar for younger and older adults.
