Age-related deficits in guided search using cues

Article Abstract:

The ability of young and older adults to engage in guided conjunction search was tested in two experiments in a cued condition when a picture of the target was presented for 200 ms before the search and the noncued condition when there was no picture of the target. The results indicated that older observers had difficulty with interpreting the cue and setting search parameters when the target varied across trials.

Age effects on social cognition: Faces tell a different story

Article Abstract:

Social cognition tasks were administered to younger and older adults to investigate age-related differences in social and emotional processing. Findings suggest that age differences in social cognition are limited to the processing of facial emotion, however, with age there appears to be increasing reliance on a common resource to perform social tasks, but one that is not shared with other cognitive domains.

Depression in later life: cross-sequential patterns and possible determinants

Article Abstract:

The issues of aging and the increased incidence of depressive problems are investigated within a research format combining cross-sectional and 8-years longitudinal assessments of depressive tendencies.
