A longitudinal analysis of anxiety and depressive symptoms

Article Abstract:

A investigation of the relationship of anxiety and symptoms of depression is presented, in the form of a longitudinal study of Swedish twins. It was found that anxiety symptoms generated symptoms of depression, but that this relationship was not mutual.

Several evidence-based psychotherapy treatments for late-life anxiety disorders in older adults are identified and described. These include relaxation training, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), supportive therapy and cognitive therapy.
