After adoption: sustaining the innovation a case study of disseminating the hospital elder life program

Article Abstract:

Challenges that occur in the initial stage of adopting Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) are discussed. Procedures for collecting required data and drawing the results to find out the capability of hospitals to continuing the adopted HELP are discussed. A longitudinal and qualitative study made on 13 hospitals between November 2000 and November 2003 revealed that 10 hospitals out of 13 are sustaining the HELP program. Good leadership, resources and funding, are stated as the main reasons of this sustainability.

The study examined common challenges faced by hospitals implementing the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) and strategies used to address these challenges.

A study conducted to determine predictors of recommendation adherence and goal attainment of family caregivers of patients at a geriatric assessment center is presented. A broad range of treatment recommendation in geriatric assessment is revealed.
