Article Abstract:
A diffusion model is used to characterize age differences in practice effects in a masked letter discrimination task and a masked brightness discrimination task between college-age and elderly people. The older subjects were slower to begin with but across sessions their accuracy improved and their performance for the brightness discrimination task was matched by that of the younger group illustrating that a well-specified model can provide a unified view of multiple aspects of data.
