Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine nine neglected or abused elders who went through comprehensive interdisciplinary geriatric team assessment and intervention at the Harris County Hospital District with three and six-month follow up. Results indicate that instead of prolonged low quality dependent states, geriatric assessment leads to higher, more independent functioning when the geriatric team assumes primary care and provides aggressive, targeted interventions.
