Nothing either good or bad: industrial espionage and technology transfer

Article Abstract:

Firms seeking to increase competitiveness through innovation must first acquire external information. Such external information may be appropriated from personal and informal sources. With the prevailing attitude against industrial espionage as a means for technology transfer, legitimate and accepted means of information exchange may also be hampered. Since deterrence of industrial espionage can also impede information flow through personal and informal networks, innovations which can arise from such information will also be blocked.
