Article Abstract:

Advances in microelectronic research and production capacity are accelerating the process that will ultimately lead to the replacement of incandescent artificial light with light created by full-spectrum light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The history of the development of LED science is presented, the current state of technology and research is evaluated, and forecasts of future discoveries and processes are analyzed.

The ultimate white light

Article Abstract:

Laser light contains a narrow band of frequencies that is useful due to its high intensity. Supercontinuum light is produced by sending high-intensity laser pulses through specially designed optical fibers and its applications include extremely accurate frequency and time measurements, high throughput telecommunications, detection of chemicals in the air and medical imaging.

Receptor tyrosine kinases on the surface of cells are activated by circulating hormones, allowing nonadjacent cells to communicate. Internal signaling molecules, such as the SH2 module, and scaffolding proteins ensure accurate and rapid signal transmission within the cell.
