Estimation of leachability and persistence of pesticides at golf courses from point-sources monitoring and model to predict pesticide leaching to groundwater

Article Abstract:

A study sought to predict the extent to which certain pesticides would leach to drainage or groundwater through the soil at golf courses, using an estimation of leachability and persistence of pesticides. The effort monitored 19 pesticides in drainage and groundwater at a golf course when there was no runoff water, ultimately to explain the cause of persistence of terbutol, which is considered as a model compound for screening pesticide persistence at the golf courses. The results indicate that the persistence of terbutol was primarily caused by slow degradation rate in the subsoils.

Slim TV: How to shrink a cathode-ray tube

Article Abstract:

Cathode-ray tube in a slim TV is about 33% shallower than a conventional design where, in both models an electron gun accelerates and focuses three electron beams toward a metallic shadow mask. Two sets of deflection coils create varying magnetic fields that steer the beams across the mask and then passing through a slot in the mask at slightly different angles, the beams finally hit the distinct phosphorus stripes on the inside face of the screen.
