Debating the future of Gwaii Hanaas

Article Abstract:

The issues on Haida Gwaii or the Queen Charlotte Islands are not entirely settled between the Canadian government and the Haida natives. Despite the initial success of preserving the South Moresby archipelago, the natives have to propogate the continued protection of Gwaii Hanaas National Park.

A good year for parks

Article Abstract:

The creation of the Aulavik National Park demonstrated that support from the aboriginal and local communities is required to advance the cause of the conservation movement. Support from businessmen, civil servants, and politicians is also invaluable in establishing parks.

Transcending the boundaries

Article Abstract:

The US and Canada have made progress in the protection of migratory birds plying through its boundaries. However, protection of shared ecosystems such as the Tatshenshini River and Arctic National Wildlife Refuge need to be established.
