Culture clash: is mathematics becoming too much like physics?

Some mathematicians are worried that physics-inspired work in mathematics will lead to the elimination of the use of mathematical proofs in favor of a more speculative type of mathematics. Others believe that the use physics, including superstring theory, is important in mathematics.

Sexual behavior in fruit flies were found to be controlled by a single mutant gene called dissatisfaction. The gene causes neural defects in both sexes of fruit flies resulting in behavioral changes not conducive to copulation.
