The expansion of the universe is one of the most fundamental concepts of modern science yet one of the most misunderstood. The difference between the expansion of space and the expansion in space, reasons for the occurrence of cosmic redshift, galaxies receding faster than light, and big bang explosion, and the discrepancies in these concepts are discussed briefly.
