A closure model to crack growth under large-scale yielding and through residual stress fields

Article Abstract:

A closure model incorporating the effect of residual stresses is presented, for predicting the effect of shot peening on fatigue life extension. The results concluded that predictions of the extended closure model are within a factor of two of the experimental results of etched specimens tested under spectrum loading, highlighting the capability of the predictive model along with some important issues for future research in this area.

A comparative study on various ductile crack formation criteria

Article Abstract:

The efficacy and accuracy of different mechanical models used for predicting ductile fractures are assessed in a wide range of process parameters. The observations corroborate that it is impossible to capture all properties of ductile fracture in various states of stress with a single category.

Simulation of multipass welding with simultaneous computation of material properties

Article Abstract:

The objective of the study is to calculate residual stresses and compare them with measured residual stresses. The computational model, with transformation-induced plasticity is referred to as m1 and without transformation induced plasticity is referred to as m2.
