The physiological aspects and capabilities of the eyes and vision of birds is quite different from that of humans. Even though research has shown that the eyesight of birds of prey are not much better than that of humans, the kestrel is unique in that its eyes are constructed like a telescope.

Beaver ponds and lodges can provide excellent habitat for birds, such as Canada geese, flycatchers and herons. Even the dead trees killed by being submerged in the pond provide nesting sites and food for birds as insects attack the dead wood. (Beavers are in the family Castoridae.)

Birds attract potential mates and groom themselves ny preserving the color of their feathers. The different colors of birds are results of the reflection of light, and absorption of light wavelengths, of the birds' pigments including melanin and liprochome.
