Article Abstract:
An overview of the papers presented at the Academic Conference of the 5th International Forum on Technology Management is given. The conference, which was held in Helsinki, Finland, was chaired by S. Metcalfe, Dean of the University of Manchester's Faculty of Economics. The conference had two principal objectives. One was to enable executives to update their knowledge to help them improve their ability to deal with the economic impact of technological change. The other was to provide academics with a clearer perspective of research priorities in the technology management field.

Case method serves as an attractive alternative in enhancing the skills of technologists in strategic decision making. Utilization of a case method, which combines multi-media delivery and learning support, is more likely to result in enhancement of team working skills and strategic integration ability of managers. In the creation of case method, organizations need to take into account the design of the total student experience so as it will not only lead to provision of information.

Article Abstract:
The creation of any radical innovation in the automobile industry is hindered by most of its social, economic, industrial and technical features. It was noted that heavy capital investment, massive employment, infrastructure and consumers' constraints, among others play 'blocking' role in the automotive industry. The existence of such factors validate the hypothesis which claims that technological inertia exists in the industry.
